This may be obvious to some of you, but it wasn’t obvious to me so I figured I’d share my experience.I’ve had two eye styes (gross, yes I know) in the past few weeks and I’m pretty sure this product is causing them. For reference, I’d only had one or two eye styes in my entire life before this experience. I threw out all the obvious culprits, like mascara, after the first one. So imagine my shock when another popped up.Shortly after the second stye, I realized as I was using this product to take off my makeup that I have been dipping my wet hands into it and tightly sealing it afterwards. I believe this was creating a perfect place for bacteria to grow and I’ve now thrown this away and suspect I won’t be seeing any more styes.So if you do choose to use this, I have two suggestions.1) Make sure you thoroughly wash your hands prior to using it.2) Make sure you thoroughly dry your hands before dipping into the product. If any water gets into it, I would allow the water to dry with the lid open.I’ve switched to an oil cleanser with a pump and it’s much more sanitary in my opinion. Hope this helps someone!

I started using this product about a year ago after all the youtube recommendations. You apply it on your dry face, which I thought was a quirky twist.Pros:-It definitely does what it says: removes all makeup with one wash. This product glides over my makeup like butter, and easily removes everything without irritation or excessive scrubbing-Like all Clinique products, it’s fragrance and irritant free-It lasts quite a while. I’m pretty generous with the amount I use each night and the jar lasts me around 4-5 months.Cons:-The milky cleanser leaves a slight waxy residue on my skin that is difficult to completely remove unless I blast my face with water-It’s definitely a one hit wonder. It’s awesome at removing all makeup, but has no other skin or acne benefits-The past two jars I’ve had, towards the end of the jars’ life, begin to emit a mildew smell and the thick waxy product disintegrates, leaving curds of wax swimming in an oil residue at the bottom of the jar. I suppose this is from bacteria buildup (which freaks me out because I’m generally a clean freak germaphobe) with the multiple use. The product volume lasts longer than it’s general use expiration date (not printed expiration date, which is 2 years).Overall, it’s a great makeup remover that should be followed up with your favorite face cleanser.

I’ve used this product for years. It removes every last stitch of every type of makeup and has never failed me in any way. (You can tell this review is going to be objective because that’s not overselling it.) I use a lot of waterproof “24/7“ makeup, all designed to stay put throughout my days filled with eye rubs, tissue pats, hard laughs, allergens, emotional outbursts, emotional inbursts, and various other forms of contact or wear--rendering most of makeups semi-permanent. Especially the eye stuff. Glitter liner, liquid liner, waterproof mascara, and so on. Just a few swipes with this stuff and it’s like it never happened! It feels oily and gross when rubbing it onto my face, which produces plenty of its own oils, and it took a while to get used to that. But it rinses away clean, NO residue. (Although I do use a soap afterwards for good housekeeping.) It lasts a good long time, too. If you bought this only for eye makeup, it would last you a ridiculously long time. (I use it for face and eyes and it lasts about 4 months.) I rub it all over my eye; the lid, the brow bone, underneath, and I gently rub it along the bottom lash line. It gets in my eye every time and makes my vision a little blurry until I rinse. NO stinging at all. (I have very sensitive eyes.) I’ve recommended this to everyone who complains about stubborn makeup and it’s a staple for me.

As much as I want this to be my holy grail cleansing balm, as it genuinely does melt away my toughest makeup, it does contain polyethylene. Polyethylene is a form of plastic that negatively impacts the environment. Numerous research studies, globally conducted, show the detriments that even microplastics, such as the polyethylene found in this product and many other facial cleansers, have on our ecosystem. BEWARE: Products that claim to be “clean“ also contain microplastics (i.e., Farmacy), so look at the ingredient list if this is something that concerns you, too.

I originally had the take the day off oil cleanser. After reading so many positive reviews on this,I decided to give it a go and I’m so glad I did. You have full control over the product. It won’t slip from your hands, it melts into your skin to dissolve, then washes away, film free. I also have some more reviews on my blog at sa4a’s beauty blog on google blogspot.

This stuff is AMAZING. I was going to try the new Take The Day Off cleansing oil but the balm was suggested to me by a family friend, who works at the Clinique counter at a department store. The balm removes every ounce of my face and eye makeup and leaves my skin feeling SO clean; even before I use my Clarisonic. When I used my makeup remover wipes I used to have makeup all over my Clarisonic brush head. Not the case at all with this balm! Love love love this product. Highly recommend!

This stuff works great for getting rid of any kind of makeup you can think of. It starts as a balm but melts in your hands. It easily removes the most waterproof of makeups and believe me I love my waterproof makeup. Because it works so well you don’t have to rub at your face which is great too. I wouldn’t use it as the only cleanser, Much like how you would use makeup remover and then wash your face you would want to wash your face after using this

« Horrible »

I bought this as an alternative to a much more expensive brand balm. To say it fell short is an understatement. Not only did I have to apply it more than once to get rid of my makeup, it never did dissolve eye makeup and stung my eyes. The creepy part to me is that even when I avoided my eye area completely my vision would be blurry after rinsing...that is REALLY not cool. I have never used a product that is able to get into my eyes like this. I tried it several times just to make sure it wasn’t something I was doing wrong...no matter how I applied it or rinsed it I still ended up with blurriness in my eyes.

it gets the job done but when I use it on my eyes it burns and stings it’s a pain I’ve never felt before I do not recommend just use coconut oil to get your make up off.

I was truly shocked to learn that my longtime ride or die first cleanse has PLASTIC as an ingredient. Truly - polyethylene is an every day plastic added to products to add a slippy texture and sometimes why people will say a film may be left on their face. And when this is a washoff guess where all of that unnecessary plastic goes? Straight to the ocean! I yi yi - and also to save some research, polyethylene is also in Green Clean and Clinique’s All About Eyes so yeah really hoping this will be a future banned ingredient from Sephora in the near future.

« THINK TWICE ON THIS »

There is no question that this product takes all your makeup off - even stubborn mascara. It has a nice slippery feel and doesn’t leave a film after a second cleanse. HOWEVER, one of the ingredients is Polyethylene, which is a type of plastic that when washed down the drain is harmful to our water ecosystems. Consider using an alternative formulated without this ingredient such as the Neutrogena one or Burts Bees.

« Broke me out »

This broke me out big time! I did my research and the first ingredient is Ethylhexyl Palmitate which is highly comedogenic (pore-clogging). This is not for sensitive skin! I am so disappointed and now I have to deal with the after effects!

This changed my life aka my night time routine. So, the story goes like this: I used to remove make up with avocado and/or almond oil because I was super broke and oils were cheap. It was quite messy and I had to triple cleanse to remove all the greasy film on my face but again, I was broke so I didn’t mind. Also, drug store make up removers were too harsh for my sensitive skin so I decided to stick with my good ol’ greasy mess. At some point in life, I got RiiCh$$ and then began my make up remover journey. I decided to try the balm thingy from Farmacy (a sample) which was really nice but my whiny sensitive skin did not like the fragrance and the white cast that made me feel blind a few seconds after using it. Then I switched to The Ordinary cleansing squalane thingy (really nice try it out) but again, my waterproof-impossible to remove-forever lasting-would survive through war make up needed more than that. AND THEN, I found this Clinique’s make up remover that was sent to me straight from heaven itself. It takes everything off in a second, so easily, so flawlessly, I didn’t even know I was deserving of such a miracle. Buy it, you will not regret it. If you do (you won’t), blame it on me. « Where has it been all my life? »

I have religiously taken my make up off every night for the past 30 years and have used a wide selection of products but this stuff is amazing. i have used wipes for years for their ease and convenience however I will not go back to them as this product is a much kinder way of removing absolutely everything, leaving your skin soft and absolutely clear of any traces of make-up, an absolute winner by all accounts.
