« Cleansing OIL?!?! »
To me, cleansing oil is an oxymoron. How can OIL CLEANSE? Well...this stuff does. I have very oily skin and when the product was suggested to me, I wanted to slap them. Oil for oily skin, are you crazy? But I like Clinic and with Sephora I knew I could try it and if I didn’t like it, I could return it. Using it the first time was strange. I’m putting oil on my dry face (following directions - apply to dry face) and it immediately removed all my foundation, lipbalm, blush, eye makeup and mascara. Rinsed...and literally my face was squeaky clean. After several days of using this stuff, I have no blackheads (and mine were difficult since I have sensitive skin, I couldn’t use the harsher stuff to get rid of them) and my skin is nice. No breakouts! I’ve also been using Dior’s Essential One and the two together have made my skin look nicer, pores smaller, non-oily...sigh....have I finally found THE skin care products I’ve been searching (and paying heavily for) for YEARS? If the last week is any indication YES I HAVE!!!!!

I have always loved Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm but it is in quite a large container and not always easy to pack in a suitcase. I had not tried this before in the oil form and was hesitant as to how well it would work. It works wonderfully and I’m very happy with it. I use only two or three pumps in my hands and then gently work it over my face. I can get around my eyes because it doesn’t sting or hurt my eyes in any way. I then rinse it off and proceed with using my Clinique cleansing soap to wash my face. I am sure that it would take mascara off but I’ll have to say that I always have removed mine with my fingers and very warm water, which works well for me so that I don’t have to pull on my lashes, so that aspect I cannot attest to. The pump head also turns to lock in place for traveling which is very nice. I’m would recommend this purchase and will buy again. Gentle on a 65-year-old face which is a plus!

Let’s be frank, I can be lazy. The idea of having to open and scoop out a cleansing balm and then closing the lid is too much. This is why I decided to choose the Oil with the pump instead. It makes taking off my make up super easy! The product breaks down water proof mascara very easily. This product has a calming scent, slightly spa-like - making my bedtime routine extra soothing. The only reason I have it 4 stars is because of the price - I wish it was a little cheaper because it runs out pretty quick.

I wanted to try an oil as a first step cleanser to remove pesky eye makeup/waterproof mascara, and I have to say I am SO pleased with this. It has no scent, which is important for me since I have sensitive/combo skin, and I can literally see my makeup dissolving away. I apply it as the directions state, and it leaves my skin soft and smooth. It rinses off completely so there is no oily residue, and my skin looks lovely! Whether you’re looking for a makeup remover, or an actual cleanser, this fulfills both, ridding the skin of impurities while also leaving the skin fresh and clean. Would highly recommend.

I have very oily skin and used to use wipes for all my makeup removing. No more! This took all my makeup off without feeling like I had to tug and pull on my skin. I do put some extra effort on my lashes but have had no problems with it irritating my eyes (I am however not a contact lens wearer.)

I absolutely love this! I have been using this for a month now. I’m oily and acne prone so I always assumed using or adding more oil would make me break out but this definitely doesn’t! I can actually feel and see my sebaceous filaments and black heads come out if I take the time to massage my face :O I feel so clean using this and then following up with a cleanser! I def recommend for my oily girls!

I’m currently shaking my head at the amount of people that don’t know to double cleanse or what that even means. This is hands down the BEST makeup and sunscreen remover that I’ve ever tried. Best 1st step for a double cleanse. I use waterproof mascara and also a stubborn to remove physical sunscreen that doubles as a primer and this product removes all of it. I then use either a cream or gel cleanser (depending on weather or skin needs) to wash my face. I have this liquid and also the balm which I pack when traveling. Don’t be daft and try to travel with OIL in a suitcase. Use the balm for that; it works the same as this.

For years, I have actually been using baby oil to remove my makeup. It worked fine, but I decided I needed to ’grow up’ and buy some real makeup remover. I chose this product due to the positive reviews and price relative to other top rated removers.In a nutshell, this product is a complete failure. It barely takes off my eyeliner and mascara. I have to use pump after pump of oil and practically scrub off my eyelids to get anything off. Worse than that, it aggravates my eyelids and I have started waking up with puffy eyes after using this at night. Another annoying aspect of this product is the design of the dispenser - it takes quite a bit of force to actually get the dispenser to go down. After you finally manage to push down hard enough, the product squirts out violently and gets over your hands and bathroom counter, not on the cotton ball.Overall, I would not recommend this to a friend nor will I be purchasing again.

At first I loved this because it did what it said it would, removed makeup. I always double cleansed with this, but at the time I was trying so many different products that I didn’t realize what was the cause when I started getting HORRIBLE acne, breakouts on top of breakouts. Unfortunately, I used this for an entire year, trying so many diff things hoping to fix the problem before I realized the one constant was this product.My face cleared up within a month of cutting this out. My face will never fully recover from that time. Fully regret this product.

For heavy makeup, I apply product directly on a cotton pad and swipe everywhere, then simply rinse off.For light makeup, I wet my face first and then apply as a cleanser, which causes the product to turn white when mixed with the water on my face.In both cases, the product removes all makeup very well in one pass, except for waterproof mascara which requires a little extra product.It doesn’t burn (eyes or anywhere else) at all, leaves skin feeling squeaky clean but without drying me out like other cleansers do. Face feels supple and comfortable after use.I have sensitive, acne prone, combination skin and my face loves this cleansing oil. No breakouts or irritation at all.Fantastic product, will absolutely repurchase.
« ok but not as good as the balm »
I’ve been a huge fan of the cleansing balm and gone through multiple of them; but decided to try this as the pump is more convenient than having to scoop out the balm. This is gentle, non irritating to the eyes, and gets my makeup off. However, the very liquidity texture is definitely harder to use than the balm. It doesn’t emulsify as well and I end up using a ton of pumps in order to remove my sunscreen, brow pencil and mascara (I don’t wear any other makeup basically). So overall it definitely works and it’s not bad if you prefer the more liquid texture but personally I will be going back to the balm once I finish this bottle.

I have oily, acne prone skin and this does not break me out or irritate the skin. I have tried the balm version but i prefer this cleansing oil as it does not leave my pores congested like the balm version

Seriously, this is probably my favorite of all of the skin products I have ever used. And that’s saying something, because I’ve used a lot of skincare products. The name is kind of misleading because it doesn’t actually contain oil (just oil-like ingredients), but it takes off every single bit of makeup on my face. Also, it’s not irritating to the eyes and rinsing it off is a breeze. It turns into a sort of milky texture when you rinse it and leaves no residue (or makeup) behind. I use this stuff every night before cleansing to remove my makeup. I have very acne-prone skin and I haven’t ran into any issues using this daily. Love it! Way to go Clinique!

I got the travel size of this cleanser to try out since it was suggested on Beautypedia, and ended up really liking it. It pumps out like an oil and turns milky when mixed with water. It’s very gentle on my face and doesn’t dry out my combo skin, in fact it leaves it quite smooth and calm after. I use it to remove makeup as well as cleanse and it does both very nicely. I’m impressed with how gentle it turned out to be for me. I’ve tried many cleansers on my acne prone and combo skin, this one is a winner for sure. Waterproof makeup may need a bit more.
