Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Face Mask with 10.5% Squalane

« Holy Grail »

I never write reviews, but this stuff is seriously holy grail. I searched for HOURS for an ultra-hydrating, clean moisturizer that worked for sensitive, dry, very acne-prone skin. I use tretinoin, I live in a super dry environment, and I for sure could be drinking more water... so I need something that puts in work. In a WEEK this stuff has changed my skin like nothing else I have ever used. If I could buy 10 for safekeeping I would. Reading these other reviews, I’d say a) who cares how it smells if it works this well and b) the reason it isn’t that consistency everyone wants is it’s bare minimum, good ingredients. I still think it’s super usable. If you have any issues like me BUY THIS STUFF.

I received the sample size and loved it, I purchased the full size and upon peeling off the safety seal, I noticed a black hair embedded into the product. Absolutely disgusting. I notified the company and they weren’t concerned. I’m definitely disappointed and question their quality control.

This stuff is INSANE. I recently upped my retinol percentage and my skin has been flake city - I have VERY acne prone combination skin, and after using this for 2 nights, I see zero sign of breakout and flake city has moved out of town. My skin looks and feels so supple. 11/10 recommend. Buy this.

If you want to level up your slugging game, this is a must. This overnight mask is a very thick balm that, once applied to your skin, begins to melt, sink in, and work it’s magic! I wake up in the morning and, voila! Plump dewy skin. The directions say you can wipe off but I probably won’t try that. Unlike slugging with aquaphor or vasaline, this product doesn’t leave an ultra sticky goo that gets all over your pillowcase and hair. It will leave a layer of moisture that looks wet so definitely a night time product( unless you use the wipe off method). No added fragrance, non irritating, great for sensitive skin. My only complaint is I wish it came in a tube to preserve the product better (I’m not a fan of open jar packaging).

Obsessed. This feels amazing and results are glowing, hydrated and less redness. Perfect for “slugging” without Vaseline. Highly highly recommend and will repurchase forever

If you like slugging your face with Vaseline but hate the mess. This is a great option. It’s a thick solid consistency, very hydrating and easy to apply. I would much rather use this in replacement of Vaseline. I also love how dewy my face looks after applying it. Really gives the skin a nice glow. However, because of its thick texture you need to let it sit on your face for a few minutes before bed or else it easily rubs off onto your pillow. I would recommend giving this product a try, there is enough product to last months!

A Sephora employee recommended this, I normally protect my skin barrier with Cicaplast by La Roche Posay but it is super thick (love it for winter!). This Khiel’s product is so soothing overnight but can also be used as a mask (thick layer for 15 minutes and remove excess). The price is great for the amount of product, too. Leaves my skin bouncy and dewy. Definitely would recommend if skin barrier is weakened.

I love the product, it does provide enough moisture to sensitive dry skin without overly pressuring skin with rich ingredients. It feels like a rich cream, but it is not heavy. The only problem is that it takes time to massage it from balm to a lighter texture. Oh and the cap is made of plastic that cracks easily. I dropped it once and it leave a large crack.

I tried out this product as a free sample. The product consistency was very smooth and light. I chose to use this 3 times a week using the “tissue-off treatment” method. The cold weather has made my skin very dry and this product worked wonders. I recommend this product to anyone looking for a quick hydration solution!

« Not hydrating but made skin look a bit healthier »

3 starts mainly because i don’t have the strong hydrated feeling and dewy look when I wake up. With other lotions, such as tatcha, I had the dewy look (which I love). I got this since they were sold out in store. It works “fine.” No scent, not sticky, etc. one thing I did notice and love is that it helped my acne scaring and overall appearance of skin. My skin looks healthier but it doesn’t feel hydrated (which I why I bought it). My skin is really dry so I need something that’s upper hydrating, this isn’t it. But again, not bad but I’d only buy again to help keep my redness and acne scaring in check :)

« Smells terrible »

In terms of hydration/moisturizing, yes that part works. But I would prefer something with no scent or a mild scent; I’d say anything smells better than this stuff. When I put this on, I got a whiff of stinky wet dog. As in, how my old dog smelled before I put shampoo on. Horrible. Tossed it after one use. Can’t sleep and smell like an old wet dog; I’m sure my hubby was mortified but too smart to say anything. I wanted to wash it off as soon as I applied it. So gross. There are so many other sleeping masks that smell way better. Going back to my Sisley Velvet Sleeping Mask!

I have dry and aging skin (49 yrs). I also live in a colder climate (Minnesota) and the winter winds can be brutal on my skin. I just knew this mask was going to be a major key to replenishment. I was wrong. Not only did my skin remain dry; I woke up to even drier skin when using the product. I also experienced breakouts because the Ph Balance of my skin was thrown off. I wanted to like this product sooooo much. I used it for several weeks thinking something else was drying out my skin and activating blemishes. Once I stopped using the product the symptoms subsided. I also don’t care for the scent. I do ENJOY other Kiehl’s products, just not this one. Sorry.

I think this is the WORST SMELLING high-end product I’ve ever purchased. The smell is disgusting! Buyers beware!

I was extremely excited to try this hydrating mask from Kiehl’s in exchange for my honest feedback, because I have been on tretinoin for a few months now. I regularly have flaky, dry areas on my face that are not cute! So, when I got the chance to try this out, I jumped on it. It’s so.. rich! That’s the best way to describe it. The high percentage of squalane in this mask hydrates my skin beyond belief. I applied it the first night and couldn’t believe how soft my skin was the next morning! And after using it 3 times in one week, the flaky areas on my facial skin are basically gone! Finally I found a mask that is truly nourishing and hydrating to my in-need skin! I would recommend this product to anybody with dry to very dry skin. I definitely wouldn’t have been able to use this before tret, when my skin was very oily. I got this just in time for the harsher cold weather. I also love how big the jar is!
