There are definitely pros and cons that come along with this product. Although this product does not develop into a medium/ deep tan like the mousse, i still really enjoy it because it looks more natural for my fair complexion.Pros: its hydrating, absorbs quickly, goes on clear, does not stain clothes or sheets, smells nice, develops to a natural golden glow, the tan lasts longer on my skin than other tans (5-7 days) before it starts to fade, it fades evenly, and the bottle seems like you can get a lot of uses out of it. Cons: because it is clear its easy to miss a spot, its slightly sticky in the elbows, knees and areas that crease, it will cling and develop darker in dry areas (hands, ankles, feet, elbows) if you are not careful to use a light application over these spots.Overall i am very pleased with this product and will be using it as my main tanning product. After my first application i learned how to work with it to get the best application and my second time using it my tan came out perfect!

I love the St. Tropez Purity products. While I like to self tan I always hated the color guide that would come off on my clothes and sheets. So I usually used Express so I only had to wear it for a couple of hours. But with Purity I can wear it all day or sleep in it with no staining or smell. I’ve been using Purity Mousse since last summer and just tried the Gel and I love it! It’s so refreshing and cooling to put on. I used a lot of it just to make sure I got it everywhere. It dried instantly and I woke up with a beautiful natural tan. Not as dark as Express but very natural looking. And I love the fade on my fingers/toes since its a lighter tan. Will definitely keep using

this product was sent to me. I really tried to give it the benefit of the doubt although I usually don’t trust anyone besides my favorite spray girl with tanner on me. I tried this, gave it the real shot. Exfoliated shaved 24 hours previous. Then let it develop and wash off. Etc. I didn’t notice any color? I felt like I wasted my time applying and waiting for it to develop for it to do legit nothing. I am optimistic to keep trying for sure - but as of now I am unimpressed.

I liked how this tan looked the first day but it faded very unevenly and got patchy even though I religiously moisturize. Returned.

so patchy, sorry!! I love the self tan dark, but this broke up and looked horrible until it finally faded completely away.

I couldn’t be happier to have stumbled upon this self tanner! Definitely my newest must have. The smell is incredible and being a very fair irished skin girl I’ve always had a REALLY tough time with any self tanner. This adds the perfect amount of color for me without making me look like I was stained with Cheeto dust! Haha! There is zero color transfer and goes on so beautifully with the mitt. Definitely getting the face mist next.

All of the bad reviews are confusing me. I used this this morning and it’s so amazing and so easy to apply. Maybe everyone’s streaky results are from not using a mitt? I used the one that San Tropez sells. The color is so natural, glowy, and even. Will be using frequently!

« Good but not a holy grail »

I am an avid self tanner and have been self tanning for 10 years. I was sent this product to review:Pros: 1. Has a lovely tropical-floral smell instead of the horrible self tanner smell 2. Easy application -overall the application is not as daunting as other self tanners, i.e. uneven spots, smell, stickiness. Blends nice, dries fairly well and I feel like I can get dressed right after applying. Also Its not sticky when it’s developing3. Does not give you an orange tan Cons: 1. I wish the color was darker -if I’m taking the time out to self tan i want to be dark. This product gives you some bronze color but definitely not as deep as I had hoped for.2. When the tan fades after a few days it’s pretty patchy. 3. There is no color guide- this doesn’t necessarily bother me because I’m quite comfortable with self tanning but I don’t think this would be best if you are a beginner since you can’t see where you have applied the product.Overall I like this product mainly because the application is more enjoyable than other self tanners and I will repurchase for times when I can’t be bothered applying a self tan but at the same time I want to get some color. However, there are still some drawbacks which I have noted above.

I really am surprised by the reviews! I have been tanning myself for over 10 years. I’ve tried everything from drug store brands to loving tan to other St. Tropez products. I began using this when it first came out and I LOVE it, I have not used another one since. It goes on evenly, last for about a week and slowly fades off to the point where I rarely have to scrub it off. I will say application can be challenging, especially if you aren’t an experienced self tanner. There is no color guide and the shine is minimal so you really have to focus on where you’re putting it. However this is a light to medium tan, so my friends with olive skin tones don’t like this product. But, for us very fair girls this is the way to go!! Make sure you’re exfoliating the day before and apply lotion to those stubborn areas (hands, feet, ankles, elbows, knees and wrists) and apply with a mit!

I always come back to this one. I like to try different brands, formulas etc. but I this one is truly the easiest. I apply at night after I shower, wait a few minutes and go to bed. It has never stained my bedding or clothes! Honestly this is a hidden gem and I don’t understand how more people don’t love it!

« Natural looking tan »

I dont know why this product has as low of a review as it does, i love it and its super easy to apply. does not smell bad at all. drys fast. I had an even tan afterwards. the only reason i took off a star was because It did not give me as dark of a tan as others but it looks more natural and i still noticed myself darker. I will be repurchasing this product

« Deep even tan »

Got a nice deep tan after first application! I love the peach smell. It also comes out smooth and even. I followed the directions and exfoliate a day before, then applied the next day after my shower. If you put in the work to rub yourself thoroughly you’ll get an even tan, also apply a little bit at a time and work it in.

I have been using this for a few days now and haven’t had any issues. It smells great. It’s not a dark tanner so I’ve had to build it up over a few days, but not really a problem to me. Because it’s a gel I didn’t think it took too long to dry.

so miffed by these bad reviews! this stuff is amazing! use a mitt for sure, but then when you do, its easy, mess free, it doesn’t rub off, its light and moisturisingly lovely. try it!
