R + R Mask

Why in the world is there hydrogenated vegetable oil in this? Such a disappointment and over hyped Instagram product. Shame on them!! It did have that “glowy” effect after but you can easily achieve that with other products without the vegetable or sunflower oil bleh. It’s also super abrasive. Will be returning :)

This mask is definitely a gentle alternative to a scrub. There’s a slight “glow with in” look, but nothing revolutionary. I didn’t see or feel any immediate difference with my skin. My skin is probably half a notch more moisturized, but I’ve used other masks that give better results almost instantaneously. For the price point, splurge on something else.

Leaves skin oily and sugar is too abrasive to use as a scrub so seems a little pointless. It’s not a terrible mask, leaves skin feeling hydrated as it covers in oils. It did not do much for my dry patches of skin so for $52 there are better alternatives.

Well here we go again... it seems every time I write a review about this brand it gets deleted. N-e-hoot! Let me start by saying, Finally! Finally I have found one of their mask that works ok for me and I don’t have to return it. I have tried the jet lag and the overtime masks, and I do not understand the hype, they both broke me out, and didn’t do anything for my skin. Moving on to this R+R mask, I wouldn’t say it’s spectacular, a holy grail, or anything you should be rushing out to get because of it’s amazing benefits, BUT I would say this: •Did not cause any irritation•Didn’t break me out•It doubles as a light exfoliant and mask•My skin did look plumped, smooth, and mildly hydrated once I removed this•It has a nice subtle rose scent that is not overwhelming and to fragrant •And like their other two masks the packaging is nice!Is it worth giving a shot? I say sure, for someone who wants a quick pick me upper, a mixture of a quick exfoliant and mask in one, ending with a light dewy/glowy look from within. Not any major brightness expected, and or any super hydration should you expect from this. I think this will work well for those who are sensitive, normal, with fairly dulling skin types. Although I won’t be reaching for this first and over some of my other mask, I will be keeping it for the positive reasons mentioned above.

I’ve been an avid supporter of the Summer Fridays brand and swear by the Jetlag mask but this mask is an absolute no go for me. I tried it on for the first time and it left me with red blotchy patches on my skin if this is what they meant by the mask giving you a rosey glow, its more like a breakout glow if anything. I have never dealt with redness in my skin to begin with so I am super disappointed with how the mask left my skin. The mask is also super abrasive and after you wipe it off with a damp cloth like they say it doesn’t leave much oil to pat into your skin. Save your money and invest in better oil product and exfoliator instead of this.

Gorgeous inside & out, however for me personally, I found this to be more of an exfoliant than a mask itself. After removing the mask, I found there really was NO rose oil to tap in whatsoever like Summer Fridays recommends. If you haven’t tried their overtime or jet lag, I’d suggest those over this.

Normally I mask on Sundays but tried this on a Saturday afternoon and it’s a good thing I did. I noticed my skin was a little pink right after using it but not particularly glowy, even had a few red blotchy patches. Went on to do my usual routine that night and woke up the next morning with red, puffy, dry skin. I have no idea which ingredient it is but there’s something in this stuff my skin does not like. I used Origins’ cannabis calming mask a couple times that day and the redness and puffiness went away but I’m going to be dealing with the dryness for at least a couple more days. Highly recommend you do a test patch if you try this. (I used to be better about that but it’s been years since my skin reacted like this to anything.)

I think there is more thought put into the branding and visual aesthetics more than the actual product itself. This mask broke me out like crazy. Check the ingredients - some of them have high comedogenic ingredients which will clog your pores as it did to me. I’ve tried the other masks in this brand and had the same reaction - break outs, irritation, and redness. This brand is very gimmicky - just for Instagram because of it’s pretty packaging. If you have sensitive skin, stay away.

While very pretty and incredibly Instagram-able with a lovely scent, the mask itself was completely underwhelming. Massaging the product into my face was felt like gritty work and it took considerable effort to remove all the rose flower powder (bits of rose) from my face. For the price, I expected a more luxurious experience. Unfortunately this has to go back.

« Drying and irritating »

So overall this product definitely did not work out for me. For reference I am 26 with overall clear skin minus the occasional chin breakout. I regularly use products with AHA/BHA, acids, and retinol - so my skin is no stranger to strong products.Pros: Smells great, nice packagingCons: Expensive. Exfoliating particles are too sparse to actually do any kind of physical exfoliation, more just get pushed around your face. Oils used in this product feel almost sticky (hard to describe) and once you tissue off all of the left over particles, you’re left with practically no oils leftover to pat in. Lastly, immediately upon application this product made my face become red and irritated. I left it on for the recommended 10 minutes anyways and afterwards my skin felt even more dry than before I used it! I had patches of dryness my cheeks stayed irritated all evening. Overall this product was a huge disappointment for me unfortunately as I think the concept of it is pretty great. Was a return for me (which I’ve never done before with any Sephora products).

« Super Sticky »

I am a huge Summer Fridays fan, but this mask was a big disappointment instantly. It’s really sticky and was difficult to get off. My skin feels really irritated after using it. The other products are much better!! The price tag made me nervous about purchasing it without trying, so I got a sample and was very happy that I didn’t buy it. Going to buy another jet lag mask instead!

As an ER nurse that works 14 hour shifts days in a row, my skin is usually dry... this mask has changed my life. I put it on in the morning and my skin glows all day!! People compliment my skin more than ever. It’s not too oily in case you’re worried about acne. The scent picks me up as well (slight rose scent) I swear it’s worth your money!!

« Rose Glowy Heaven! »

This mask is heavenly and makes you feel like you’re in France at a fancy hotel in a bath with rose petals (but on your face as a mask)! It is so smooth on the skin and smells fantastic! My skin was glowing after one use and it is really hydrating. I am also someone with sensitive skin and allergies and had 0 problems with this mask!

« Use it right, you will love! »

I think people have a totally wrong idea of what this mask is. It’s not to be the only exfoliating treatment in your routine. It’s meant to add a little bit of sloughing off surface dead skin, but not so aggressively that it’s an actual exfoliating treatment. Really it’s meant to be an oil mask. The little bits just help it to get deeper. Plus I don’t use a heavy hand or rub it hard into my skin. I love how this makes my skin feel. So soft. So hydrated. I love to use the R+R mask, wipe off, and then use the Jet Lag masque on top. It’s my go to routine for events and when my skin needs something more.

Smells amazing but I returned it today. For the price, I would expect another type of oil. The safflower oil seams cheap and probably GMO. It’s like rubbing vegetable oil on the face. Hard to remove and not really effective. The idea is brilliant thought but I would expect a better oil such as argan or rosehip maybe.
