« another hit for Algenist »
Just wow. I received a lab sample of this product from Algenist and tried it out on a full face of long wear makeup. I’m talking a FULL face of makeup. I used a quarter sized dollop, massaged it onto dry skin, and my makeup just disappeared. Melted. Gone. A simply amazing cleanser, I cannot wait to buy the full size!
« One of the best oil cleansers out there »
I’ve been using oil cleansers for years. I’ve tried various Shu Uemura, formulas Josie Maran, Boscia, Shiseido, etc. All oil cleansers leave my face feeling moisturized instead of tight, but none of them have actually decreased my wrinkles before. I was shocked. I tried swapping out moisturizers to check if that was the difference, but it really was the cleanser (I got plumping of wrinkles even when not using an Algenist moisturizer.)It smells nice and a little bit goes a long way. It will feel like it isn’t washing clean; however, when I wiped off my face post-cleanse with toner on a cotton pad there was no residual makeup left behind. Like most oil cleansers, I can use this as an eye makeup remover and skip the extra step. It’s gentle and hasn’t irritated my [sensitive] eyes.It feels luxurious to apply and my skin was extremely soft after using it. The only Con is that the product is so thick, that there can be a lot stuck to the walls of the tube when you are close to being finished. I recommend using a long handled product spatula to get the rest out, since there are several more uses left if you can get the last bit out. On the other hand, it is so thick that I haven’t had any leakage when I put some into a travel bottle. Almost all other cleansing oils I’ve tried have leaked (even the ones where I packed the original product bottle in my suitcase).
« Amazing cleanser »
Being an Esthetician, it is hard to excite me.That said, I love this cleanser!!!I have read many of the comments written and have a few responses. This is NOT a foaming cleanser, so of course it is not going to foam.If you are oily or have combination skin, I suggest using a wet rag to remove. As it will leave micro algae oil behind if rinsed with just water. Which is a very good thing, considering the oil costs $79.00Dry skin, any way you remove this cleanser will work. Leaving your skin soft and supple. Removes waterproof liner and even eyelash glue,,,,, nourishing lashes as well.
« Excellent! »
I use regular Algenist cleanser every day but wanted to try this new one. It is great! This removes all makeup and makes my skin just glow. The price is great because it takes only a very small amount! This should last me two or three months. Just try it and you will fall in love!
« Fabulous! »
I’ve been looking for a good cleansing balm or oil that will break down my makeup and that I can use on my eyes without irritation. This is it! This product is a standout from others I’ve tried including Colleen Rothschild, Clinique, Ole Henrickson, Sephora Brand, Ren, etc. I love the packaging - it comes in a tube so it’s very sanitary and easy to use and store. There was no noticable fragrance that I detected. The product is a gel consistency that you rub on your face and while doing so it turns into an oil. When you add water, it becomes a milky, hydrating cleanser that does not foam up, but leaves your face feeling fresh and clean. It removes mascara easily and does not burn your eyes. Algenist is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands and I highly recommend this product if you are looking for a high quality and affordable cleansing balm.
« It DOES work! »
Read the full instructions. Its a gel first, gets the makeup off, then you wet your hands and it turns into like face wash lotion. Then you rinse it off. I have combo skin and this stuff is amazing. If you use it right, it’ll work. Algenist is literally one if my favorite brands for ny skin.
« Melty Magic »
After trying the Ole Henricksen Melting Cleaner and haaaaating it, I was skeptical about trying this melting cleanser but was still on the hunt for one of these unique cleansers to help with my combo skin that keeps getting drier. So when I saw this one by Algenist, I was immediately excited about the fact that it came in a tube instead of a tub. And once I tried it, the gel actually turned into an oil! Which was something the Ole Henricksen one didn’t do with my skin. It removed my makeup and worked amazingly with my Foreo Luna. Once it was time to rinse, water turned the oil into a milky cleanser, regardless of the temperature of the water. This cleanser left my skin soft without leaving a film on it. It does leave a sort of “silky“ feeling behind but that quickly absorbs into your skin.It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and supple and hasn’t caused any adverse reactions. If your skin could use some extra moisture, or you’re curious about a different kind of cleanser, I’d recommend this.
« My skin savior! »
It should be noted that I have never used the oft-overused buzz term “Holy Grail product“ for anything I’ve ever purchased off of Sephora, but this cleanser comes PRETTY darn close to making me use it. I’ve never experienced anything like it before. At first, I was like the negative reviewers who said it left my face feeling greasy and oily, but I was determined to use up the 1.5oz sample I received from the Beauty on the Fly travel kit so I plugged along at it. It turns out, I was using waaaaay too much of the cleanser and not enough water during the “emulsifying“ step. So for the naysayers, maybe you just needed to do a bit of trial and error? I have combination skin, though, and also cleanse twice a day, so if you are the type who only cleanses once a day or has naturally oily skin I can see where you might want to give this a pass. But for me, this cleanser saved my skin. I had constant red blotchiness and bumps on my face after I showered, tried tons of cleansers and masks, and it wasn’t until I started using this regularly (because I really liked the feel of the oil on my face and the “gimmick“ of rinsing it off - I thought it was fun!) that I started to notice a difference. My red spots are almost gone, and my skin is dewy, even-toned, and radiant. I could never imagine dropping 38$ on a face cleanser, but when my 1.5oz size runs out in a week or so I’m going to do just that. My skin has never looked or felt better - my boyfriend always wants to touch my face after my nightly cleanse and moisturize routine. So...Holy Grail? We shall see...
« Want to look forward to washing your face? THIS! »
This “cleanser” is misnamed. It should be called I-smell-delicious-and-I-take-off-all-your-makeup-including-stubborn-waterproof-mascara-all-while-leaving-your-skin-baby-soft. Too long? Then I suppose Melting Cleanser will do. This product is fantastic. I used to use a heavy cream cleanser to remove just my eye makeup, then I would wash my face with a lighter, cleaner cleanser. Very time consuming. Then I discovered this excellent melting cleanser. Just as the directions suggest, you start the cleansing process with a dry face and dry fingers. Gently rubbing the cleanser onto the skin in circular motions instantly begins to lift the face makeup, blush, contour, etc. I then add a tiny bit more to a finger and begin the same process directly on my waterproofed mascara eyes. I marvel every time it softens and melts into the eye makeup until it’s ready to be rinsed off. I spend a little extra time on my eyes to loosen everything. I then wet the tips of my fingers with water and go over my whole face again, transforming the cleanser into a thin white emulsion. I then rinse my face thoroughly with water, spending a few extras passes on my eyes when wearing eye makeup. It may feel after several splashes that you’re not completely rinsed, but you are. Gently pat your face and wait for the baby softness. My least favorite part of washing my face has *always* been the immediate tightness I feel as soon as I dry my face. That doesn’t exist with this cleanser. I actually look forward to washing my face using this product. Sounds nuts, I know, but the light vanilla-ish scent and the softness it inspires on my cleansed face makes it a really pleasant experience. And, only one product needed to get my face and made-up eyes clean! I bought the full-size and the travel size. I will not be caught without it!
« Favorite Cleanser! »
I LOVE this cleanser. I try a lot of skincare and I would say it is one of only two cleansers I have used that I feel actually benefits and improves my skin in addition to removing my makeup, which it does completely. (The other being SkinCeuticals Glycolic Renewal Cleanser.) The key is using a small amount (I’m talking dime size) and completely dry hands and face. Rub it in on your face really well then just dampen your hands and rub some more to make it emulsify (“milky”). I remove it with a damp microfiber makeup remover cloth. All makeup is gone, no oily or greasy residue. Just soft, glowing skin. If you are using the appropriate amount the tube lasts a long time and is a good value for the money. I hope this helps and I hope this is never discontinued!
« In order to love it... »
You have to use this as a two-step system with their foaming cleanser. if you do it that way you will LOVE this product! It’s essential in your skincare routine because it contains a nice face oil along with anti-aging ingredients that keeps your skin CALM and YOUNG. Especially great for sensitive skin. Takes away all of my milia and redness too. If you look past this as a “makeup remover” and look at it as your first cleaner you’ll love it. I remove my makeup with the dermatological oil, go in with this then follow with the Algenist Foaming Cleanser and my skin hasn’t looked better!!
« Wanted to love it but.... »
After I cleansed with this, I dried my face off with a white towel. If was filthy from the makeup. That freaked me out. Sorry. I thought a cleanser cleansed. Smells nice but what do we do, leave the dirt there?
« Algenist Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Cleanser »
First of all, the scent of a product is important to me and this smells wonderful. Can’t pinpoint it, but it has a warm, vanilla like aroma that takes me back to my childhood. That aside, I love this cleanser! I’m 63, so cleansing without stripping is also very important and it does just that. You apply on dry skin, add water and cleanse. My face feels wonderful and looks fresh. No more tight look or feel afterwards. Combined with Algenist’s tinted moisturizer, I really can see a difference in my skin. I highly recommend it for those 40 or over.
« Love this for a makeup remover and cleanser »
I have been using this for only a week and I can tell the diffence from using m y ’foaming’ face cleanser. I love the idea of applying it to my face dry. It takes off the make-up and makes my face fell wonderful.
« If Powermud was a Cleanser »
Wonderful oil-to-milk formula that can be applied to skin dry, to avoid using too much (I always seem to have that issues with non-foaming cleansers!). It leaves my skin soft, hydrated, and glowing, yet clean, and doesn’t clog my pores. In fact, my skin has cleared up a bit since using it!The only tiny little thing I’m not crazy about is the smell, which is odd, because most Algenist products I’ve used smell fruity and delicious...this wash smells a little powdery and reminds me a bit of Josie Maran’s African Rooibos tea line. I’m extremely particular about cleanser smells, though, and I’m sure most people wouldn’t mind it.If you’re a fan of Powermud, you’ll love this cleanser.
