« Did not like it »
I purchased this because it advertised as if you liked cottonseed cleanser you will like this one . Nah ... it’s different... I did not like this one ,it also has a strong smell. so sad the cottonseed is gone .
« horrible »
BRING BACK THE GENTLE FOAMING CLEANSER WITH TAMARIN THATS FOR COMBO TO OILY SKIN. This is horrible stick the original products this is so unprofessional clarins. Why did you think this would be okay???!
« NOT a replacement for the original GFC »
I also was a longtime user of the original Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed for normal to combo skin. Obviously, it is no longer available. This is the only alternative available on the Sephora site, and let me tell you, it does NOT compare. I’m very disappointed. This product comes out separated and spits out a log of product and liquid. Kinda gross. It does not have the same fresh botanical smell, nor does it give the same squeeky clean feeling. It should not be called foaming cleanser because it doesn’t really lather at all. I will be returning this. I have instead picked up the Origins Checks and Balances, which atleast has a similar texture and performance to the original. I do not recommend this cleanser.
« NOT a Cottonseed replacement »
heartbroken that they claim to have replaced the Cottonseed with this. It is NOT the same at all. I had tried so many cleansers and once I found the Cottonseed I stuck to it and adored it. So heartbroken that it has been replaced and as a result, I am now back on the hunt for a good cleanser for my combination skin that also removes makeup. Sigh.
« Not a sub for cottonseed foaming cleanser (RIP) »
Do not buy if you love the cottonseed foaming cleanser or if you have a sense of smell. It doesn’t compare at all. It doesn’t foam or leave your face feeling as clean. Smells terrible and perfumey.
« Perfect for very dry acne prone skin »
I’m fifty years old with dry skin but still prone to breakouts. I have been using this morning and night for about a month and I am so grateful for this product. My skin is not dry anymore because of this cleanser, but it doesn’t cause acne. To me that’s a miracle! I also love using it cuz it smells lovely and the texture is luxuriously creamy when spread on facexmixed with water. I never tried the old discontinued cleanser so I can’t comment on the comparison and why some reviewers are angry about that. I just know that this cleanser is perfect for my skin and has taken away my dryness without causing breakouts.
« don’t let the negative reviews sway you »
I never used the cleanser that people are comparing this to, but I really like this. I am in my mid 30s and have dry skin and I wear a lot of makeup. This gives me a nice, clean feeling without drying me out - which is exactly what I was looking for. Don’t let the negative reviews sway you from trying this, especially if you’ve got dry skin.
« Mediocre with Unpleasant Smell »
I loved Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed but can no longer find it so I purchased this. For starters, the scent on this new cleanser is quite unpleasant. Also, it doesn’t foam like the Cottonseed one did, and you have to use a lot more product. I am seriously disappointed. I hope Clarins will bring back their Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed.
I bought this recently and I love the texture. I have dry/sensitive skin in the winter and this gives me a clean feel without over drying my skin. I’m sad to see a lot of bad reviews on here, because my experience has been great. The scent doesn’t bother me.
Not sure why there’s so many bad reviews, this is hydrating, light smell, and for my combo skin it cleanses really well without stripping at all, leaves me with smooth skin !
« Love it! »
I am so glad I ordered this despite the reviews. I’ve used the old cotton face wash and loved it but had used something else for a while since the Clarins by me closed. I decided to go back to Clarins after 5 years of using another brand because I got tired of having to order it and my local Sephora started carrying Clarins so I canrun in and grab this from the store when I’m out. I am sensitive to smells, but found this to have a mild pleasant scent that doesn’t linger like some washes I’ve used. It takes off most of my makeup and leaves my skin soft and hydrated! I love it. It’s definitely worth trying if you’re on the fence!
« One of my new favorites »
I love this cleanser. I have really sensitive and acne prone skin and I am always scared to try new cleansers, but this one is so nice on my skin. It is really creamy and makes my skin feel so clean without leaving a residue or film
« Not Awful, but Not The Same.. »
Okay first off, those who are selling this as “the same cleanser as Cottonseed” you should know that Cottonseed is for normal to combo skin, this is not. It’s not a bad cleanser but it’s just not the same as the cottonseed. It starts off as a creamy cleanser, it does foam a bit but you don’t get that same “clean” feeling.. I dislike the fact that this is so highly scented.. I really wish they didn’t discontinue a great product. If you’re normal or dry this would be great for you. If you’re sensitive- stay away (too strong in fragrance it can be irritating)
« Great gentle cleanser »
I should start by saying that I have never been a Clarins shopper, I don’t usually enjoy anything that I had tried by them in samples over the years. That all changed with this cleanser, I had received a sample in one of those skincare sample bags Sephora will sometimes have. I didn’t have high hopes but was on the lookout for a new cleanser so I thought what the heck? I used that sample morning and night (as the second part to my double cleanse along with Glow Recipe papaya cleansing balm) and by the end of the sample I was sad our time was up. I have dry/reactive/dehydrated/mature skin and this cleanser did not leave me red, itchy, irritated but cleansed and feeling hydrated. I don’t need to use much for it to foam up but it isn’t an aggressive foam, more of a creamy foam if that makes sense. The scent is very light and almost herbal but in a clean way. I bought the full size when I ran out of the sample and have been using it every day again and loving it. I feel this cleanser will last quite a while too.
Rich consistency, leaves your skin feeling clean but not stripped or dry. Nice scent. Will repurchase
