« The worst cleansing balm EVER »
I enjoy most Glow Recipe products but this is honestly terrible. The WORST cleansing balm I have ever used. I love balm cleansers as a first cleanse to remove my makeup and sunscreen. Then, I go in with my actual cleanser. This leaves a TERRIBLE film on my face and is so hard to remove once emulsified. I feel like I am spending several minutes trying to get this off of my face with water. I’ll stick to my other balms and return this if Sephora accepts it back! My other balms so a much better job at removing makeup than this as well. So disappointed!
« meh... »
meh... I bought this product on the glow recipe website and I thought I should provide some insight on the Sephora app.1. This cleansing balm contains polyethylene. Polyethylene contains plastic and is very harmful for marine life. If you want a polyethylene free cleaning balm, you may want to use Banila Co’s Clean it Zero cleansing balm. This cleaning balm does not contain polyethylene, so you will not be harming the fish and other marine life. Keep in mind that if people continue to use polyethylene, it will pollute our waters and will get into the food chain. There have already been instances where there was signs of micro plastic and polyethylene in fish. If we consume these fish, we will get plastic and polyethylene in our digestive system. This is why I personally do not use cleansing balms containing these ingredients. They are so harmful and do not do much. Plus, polyethylene is so high on the ingredient list meaning that there is a high concentration of it. 2. It’s not worth it’s price. For 32 dollars, you should be getting something that is unique. This is a cleaning balm, so similar to other cleaning balms. There are so many cheaper, higher quality, polyethylene free cleaning balms. I don’t get why this is priced so high for what it is. If you wish to buy it, go ahead, it’s just not the best. 3. It’s claims are not as amazing as it sounds.Glow recipe claims to have vitamins in it, however since this is a wash off treatment, your skin will not be getting as much of those benefits as you think it will. Essentially what is happening is that the vitamins from the papaya are going down the drain as you wash it off of your face. Sure, it might seem relaxing or nourishing, but it’s not really doing what you think. Overall, I think this cleaning balm is definitely not the greatest out there. With that amount of money you could get a better quality, polyethylene free, cleaning balm with better value. Also where did all of the bad reviews go?
« Polyethylene? »
Polyethylene? Ilove all the other ingredients, but Polyethylene is the 5th ingredient. That’s a plastic.
Good Lord I am sick of all of these 5 star “free product“ reviewers. As most of the ACTUAL reviewers stated, this stuff is extremely slick and greasy and practically impossible to rinse off. Even after using my second cleanser, I feel like there is still a residue left behind. On the plus side it does smell good and looks pretty on my shelf?
« ALWAYS Double cleanse when you’re wearing makeup »
I can’t believe some of the negative reviews saying “it doesn’t come off” it’s a cleansing balm! It has oils in it to clean off/melt off the makeup. Oils don’t come off with just water. You should ALWAYS use a regular cleanser after you use any cleansing balm. You should be double cleansing if you’re wearing makeup PERIOD. This product is amazing at removing makeup and I feel like it really gets into my pores (which is what you want). Afterwards I use a gentle cleanser to get rid of the oils from the cleansing balm. I have used their Blueberry cleanser with this cleansing balm and have looooooved it. Highly recommend that combo!
« I like it but it wasn't ~amazing~ at taking off my »
Received sample prior to release. I loved the smell, and the feeling of this product (the enzymes provide just the teensiest bit of exfoliant and it’s lovely, and while after application it turns into an oil it doesn’t become oil-y after being washed off!) I’ve used it twice, the first time I was not wearing makeup but was wearing SPF, & I really enjoyed the feeling & look of the product. The second time, I used it to remove my makeup which was only mascara & eyebrow gel, and it didn’t really thoroughly remove my mascara (I use Benefit RollerLash for reference, it’s not waterproof or anything). I double cleansed with the Blueberry Cleanser and it came off with the cleanser. I can definitely see how this product would be great with removing lipstick, eyeshadow, foundation, etc, but given that I’m going to be wearing a mask for the foreseeable future I don’t see myself wearing anything besides mascara & eyebrow gel so I don’t know how much use I’ll have for the makeup removing aspects of this product as it didn’t do a great job with my mascara. But I’ll continue to use my sample for an occasional double cleanse as I did enjoy the subtle glow it gave me!
This was terrible. Used it and it didn’t remove any makeup, it just moved it around into a super oily mess. Had to use 2 other cleansers to remove it. Try Elemis if you want a good cleansing balm
« Contains micro plastics »
Contains polyethylene, which is a micro plastic, which is in most Cleansing balms/sherbets. That’s how they keep their solid consistency, which is why I generally prefer cleansing oils.
« really wish I could give 5 stars »
I really wish I could give this 5 stars. Overall, the product is FANTASTIC! Butttt it contains polyethylene which is bad for marine life. So I won’t be repurchasing no matter how much I love it :’(
« Horrible!! »
I returned this today. It was complete garbage. I tried it twice, both times with barely any makeup to remove, just eye makeup or concealer, and it just put an oily film over my face, without removing the makeup. I’ll stick with the Farmacy one until I find something else.
« Holy Grail »
I’m sorry, I just had to write this review to tell those of you complaining it leaves a residue & you have to go in with another cleanser afterwards....thats literally the point. You always, always, always double cleanse on days you wear makeup. Now that we’ve cleared that up; this is amazinggg!!! It doesn’t burn my sensitive eyes like most cleansing balms do, and it helps keep my skin so smooth and moisturized! Love that it has the fruit enzymes for a little added exfoliation!
« Wish QC had done a better job. »
So I’m thinking I got a bad batch. I really want to like this product but it just feels greasy, and I don’t think it is supposed to. The product appears to be solid in all the photos I’ve seen but mine is so oily, I can pour it out of the jar. I even stirred everything up from the bottom hoping it might help to solidify everything back together but it’s still runny. And before you ask, it is not hot in my bathroom. I have other cleansing balms that are supposed to be solid and are solid. Unfortunately, I threw all the packaging away before I realized something was off with it so I can’t return it. If I make it through this jar and buy another one, maybe it will be better? Just really disappointed with the inconsistent quality. Unless I end up buying another jar that has the consistency it’s supposed to have, I don’t know that I would recommend this product. QC needs to up their game.
« amazing »
I hope the people who wrote negative reviews know that this product is to be applied to a dry face. With dry hands. After you’ve rubbed it all over your face, then you rinse. As you rinse, also rinse the product from you hands before touching your face again. This product is amazing. My skin is SO soft after I use to remove a full face of make up. I never have trouble with a “greasy residue” as some others state in the reviews. My skin always feels clean and soft after every us! Highly recommend. Just do your research on how to use the product and it might make huge difference!
« Effective and smells delicious! »
I got a sample of this when I ordered other GR stuff and loved it so much, I bought the full size product. It came with the sweet little plastic scoop. Sure, it looks pretty and smells great and the glass jar is lovely. But I don’t care how a product looks, I need it to work and be worth my hard earned money. This is a great product. Just a little bit of this magic balm melts into my skin and gets it clean and prepped for serious night time skin care. I am one of those freaks that does a 10 minute oil cleanse and lymphatic massage every night... one minute isn’t enough for me and this product is very pleasurable to do that with. I follow this up with a foamy face wash in the shower. I have acne prone, sensitive oily skin and this helps to get all the nasty stuff out. I have a full face of make up and sunscreen on every day since I’m on camera teaching between 8 AM and 8 PM four days a week. Even before COVID, I had a full face of product on for my lectures and my favorite part of the day was coming home to wash it all off. There are a ton of excellent products out there, and certainly more affordable options. But this is really nice, I like it a lot. I’ll be buying it again when I run out.
