« IT WORKS FOR ME! »
I have tried many acne skin care products--everything from low end to high end products including Pro-Active. Usually I will have some success with a product, then after some use, the magic of the product wears off and the breakouts reoccur (this happened to me with Pro-Active). Of all the products I have tried, Murad works the best for me--my skin has responded very well to it. I am in my late 20s, have oily skin and a tendency to break out most closer to my period (the new breakout area is usually above the jaw line closer to my ears) The Murad skin care line has helped to clear my neck and face from the regular outbreaks I get and has even helped the appearance of my skin by reducing the redness. I recommend for you to try this product if you haven’t found a line of acne defense that works for you--this just might do the trick!
« IT WORKS! But give it ten days first »
It’s not miraculous, obviously. But reading some of the bad reviews, I found that so many had one thing in common: users stopped usage a few days after starting use. I used this product for 10 days, twice a day. I wore no makeup for this span, and didn’t follow it up with any moisturizers so as not to dampen the effect Ten days later - it’s worked. However in between there were days of angry lil red bumps popping up everywhere. This product purges your skin, and takes out EVERYTHING. At this point, all pimples have subsided, and only the marks remain. The product was the first (!) to work on my cystic pimples. Attatched below: angry lil ones of day 6 and the left over pimple marks of day eleven (Today)
« OMG!!! Hands down the BEST acne cleanser ever!!! »
I had teenage acne for many years and struggled with it. I tried so many products, went on Accutane, took antibiotics because it was so relentless. I got both small pimples and deep painful cysts. I finally got it under control for many years with the right cleanser and topical treatments and then of course they stopped making the products. Now I am in my mid 40’s and I am having hormonal acne again and my skin is more mature and needs moisture. This has made it twice as hard to find relief. My skin has been awful! Pimples and cysts again all over my t-zone. I tried tons of products (drugstore and more high end) and nothing helped! They made the acne worse or they made my skin peel so badly it literally would flake off. I finally heard about this Murad cleanser and tried it because it wasn’t supposed to dry out your skin. The results were utterly amazing! After about a week (I was only using this in the t-zone where I break out) every pimple and cyst was gone and my skin was glowing and smooth and not breaking out at all. I didn’t know if it would last though so I’ve been waiting to write a review. I started using this product in July and it is now the end of September and I have had maybe TWO pimples in all that time. In addition to that my skin is gorgeous. Radiant and soft. I am stunned! I still only use this in the t-zone where I break out but it has made a tremendous difference. Now I hardly need concealer. I basically go make-up free except for lipstick. I am SOOOO happy with this product. If Mr. Murad reads these reviews PLEASE don’t discontinue it! It’s simply phenomenal!
« Worth a try, and every penny :) »
I’ve never been compelled to write a product review before, but I’m doing so now in hopes that it’ll spur someone out there to give this a try.I’m 29 and have had moderate acne since high school. For whatever reason, my adult acne got worse when I hit 25. I’ve tried a number of products with different active ingredients, thinking that the higher the potency, the better. I was skeptical to learn that this product had such a low % of salicylic acid, but I thought I’d try it anyway. So glad I did. It’s the first and only cleanser that has ever reduced and almost eliminated my acne. A few notes below:-I’m Southeast Asian with combination/oily skin (esp t-zone)-It took about 2 weeks to see results from the cleanser-I’d say that 85% of my acne is gone (I still get the random blemish)-I start with a gentle foaming cleanser from Shiseido since this product does not remove make-up very well, nor does it foam-This cleanser has a gentle menthol feeling - very light and refreshing. I actually look forward to washing my face now.-A little bit goes a long way! A pea-sized amount is fine.-I use it morning and night-It does not dry out my skin and makes it feel moisturized-Other products I tried that did not work: pretty much everything over the counter in your local drug store, Proactive, Clinique’s 3-step program, even Murad’s multi-step acne line (probably too harsh).Disclaimer/tip: At around the same time I started using this product, I increased my daily activity level, upped my water intake, and started eating more greens. I encourage you all to do this to help your skin heal from the inside systemically, as well as topically with this product. GOOD LUCK!
« Great for aging skin acne, but texture too thick »
This is great if you have “hormonal“ acne and aging skin. With menopause looming, I was having more trouble with acne than I did in my teens. As soon as I started using this, the incidence decreased significantly. I rarely have any more break-outs. The only reason that I didn’t give it 5 stars is that the consistency is too thick. I have to dilute it in my hand with water in order for it to spread and adhere to my skin.
« Perfect Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin! »
So I was in the market for a new cleanser.. I think I’ve tried about 10 different cleansers before I found this little miracle. I love that it targets Acne and Wrinkles..A little FYI about my skin... I always have 1-2 pimples on my skin. And being that I’m now in my late 20’s, I def want to consider wrinkle fighting treatments. So I bought this cleanser and absolutely fell in love with it. I love that it feels creamy while I’m washing my face and my skin feels so soft after. It’s the perfect balance. I feel like it has helped lower the oiliness on my skin and at the same time it adds the perfect amount of moisture to my skin. Twice a week I use it with my Clarisonic brush to get a deep cleanse. Thank you Dr. Murad for this perfectly balanced cleanser!
« You NEED to try this! »
I started getting adult acne once I turned 30 but in the last couple of months it was getting bad. I tried all different kinds of cleansers and product but it was just getting worse. Then I tried this cleanser paired with their acne scar treatment and I instantly saw results. After the first week I also bought their advance acne and wrinkle reducer and within two weeks my face was cleared and my acne scars faded almost all together. I don’t normally write reviews but felt like I really had to for this product line because it helped me so much I hope it’ll help someone else out there too!
« Best face wash I have used »
I never got much acne growing up but then I hit my 30’s and I just kept getting attacked. This was the only product (after trying a lot) that I felt that my face was clean but not dry. It cleared the acne I currently had and minimized future breakouts (only get one or two of those pesky hormonal ones).I use it twice a day. I take my makeup of with it and then follow it with a moisturizer. That’s it.. Works great.Too bad I am having a terrible time getting it her in Canada. I have to pick it up in the States when I go. Please bring it back, Sephora!
« Works on congested but dehydrated skin/adult acne »
This is the only acne-specific face cleanser I’ve tried in the last few years that I can still use now that I am 27 and have drier skin than I did in my earlier 20s. I’m also living in an even dryer, higher elevation climate than I used to which has wrecked my skin at times. I sometimes prefer another cleanser in the morning because my skin is dryer and more sensitive in the first half of the day than at the end of the day/night; I find the Time Release Acne Cleanser can still be a little drying if you’re not careful with moisturizers and I am still perfecting my regimen but I’ve been using this cleanser for almost a year now and you just need to stick with it to see results. It has become my number 1 go-to cleanser. I had stubborn adult acne along my jawline and around my mouth and most of it is gone now even though I still get hormonal flareups and the occasional extra-sensitive day. Personally, I have to substitute outside the adult acne complex line to find products that are more hydrating because with these ones on there own, I still end up with a tight feeling, slightly dull complexion by mid day, particularly during winter months. If you tried this a long time ago and hated it you should know Murad has definitely improved it since then! The first time I purchased this at Sephora a few years ago I returned it because it had an awful texture and came out in uneven, watery chunks that was hard to work with. It took me a while to give it another shot as a result. Recently it is a much smoother, consistent gel-creme texture that is much more satisfying!Useful tip I found: a couple times a week when you go to massage this on in the PM, leave it as a mask for a minute or two and then when you wet your hands again use a dime size amount of the AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser over it. I really feel it getting into my pores this way and it seems like a practical way to get the exfoliation without skipping the blemish treatment.
« sensitive skin must have! »
Before this wash I was using Murad’s clarifying cleanser. My face still wasn’t what I want it to be with my minimal acne. It was very drying as well. This has not been a problem with this one. It has cleared my skin and doesn’t dry me out and my face feels clean until I wash it that night or the next morning. The only thing that threw me off at first was that it didn’t lather and was a heavier consistency but it’s honestly grown on me a lot and I wouldn’t change it. My face is so smooth, clear and glowy. I highly recommend this to people with sensitive skin!! I usually break out with most products but no problems!
« wow »
I been using it and it’s amazing. I have acne and acne scars and combination skin and so far it helping clearing my acne and scars. It does not leave my skin dry it leaves it silky soft. I apply a light moisturizer after. It is so gentle on the skin it does not leave your face red after. So far best thing for acne in price range!
« Surprised »
In a nutshell this is what you need to know… My skin before I was 19 had: - a good complexion - more on the oily side -only maybe one pimple on my forehead during that time of the month After I turned 19 my skin became (most likely due to hormonal changes): -Dry -Crazy cluster of breakouts on the center of my cheeks only -Extremely sensitive *Proactive contained benzyl peroxide which was not effective on my acne, burned my skin, and caused terrible peeling. *Natural/Organic products did absolutely nothing * Salicylic Acid proved most effective on my acne however all the products irritated my skin and caused peeling. * I have a terrible habit of popping pimples which left a bunch of dark spots, and discoloration * I saw an esthetician that had suspected it was due to hormonal changes, and I could’ve developed adult acne. There were no changes in my diet or anything significant. I struggled with this new type of acne for more than a year, and was so close to going to the dermatologist. The acne wasn’t extreme like some may have it, but it still didn’t look good. My confidence was down the toilet, and I just wanted it to get better. I was looking for a product that was paraben free, and when it specified this was for dry/sensitive skin and adult acne it caught my interest. When I found this product I didn’t have much hope but I am so glad I took a chance! I have been using this product for a few months now, and already have repurchased. What I like about this product: - I was pretty happy with the amount of product I got - It does NOT dry out my sensitive/dry skin or leaves that tight feeling - It feels refreshing on my skin, and no obnoxious scent - My acne is now under control! I may get a ONE pimple every now and then but I can live with that. **As an FYI this product doesn’t lather or foam up. It applies like a thick lotion of some sort, HOWEVER it does NOT leave a film when washed off. It actually does make my skin feel nice and clean without it being stripped of moisture.***** I have not had any breakouts on my cheeks since using this product. The only thing I have now is still some discoloration and dark spots from my previous acne. Since I don’t get breakouts like that anymore my complexion has greatly improved and is starting to look like it once did before all this happened. I highly recommend this product, but the reality of the matter is that everyone reacts differently to things. Hope this helps!
« The best cleanser. Ever. »
I’ve tried so many different cleansers. I’m 28 and still breakout AND have a tendency for dry skin. I’ve used Proactiv, Philosophy, Clinique, etc. etc. etc...This is the only cleanser that keeps my skin constantly clear AND doesn’t dry it out AT ALL.Love it!
« Purifying but rich »
This cleanser was a really pleasant surprise. The texture is somewhere between a light balm and a really thick gel, so you can kind of massage it into dry skin OR damp skin. It cleans well, removing all of my face makeup but I wouldn’t suggest using it on the eyes because it has that Murad trademark slightly cooling effect. To avoid the eye makeup predicament I tend to use this in the mornings. I use my Clarisonic around 3x a week and especially like this cleanser with it because it’s so smooth and silky and I feel like it helps the exfoliating action of the salicylic acid (since this isn’t very exfoliating otherwise). Over the past few weeks of using this with my normal routine my skin tone has slowly evened out and my angry blemishes have been subdued. I have definitely had markedly fewer breakouts now that I’ve been using this consistently for awhile, so I think regular use is key. The best part is, the sodium hyaluronate (form of hyaluronic acid) makes this hydrating enough that you actually can use it regularly without it being drying. Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t really foam up, but I’ve gotten used to cleansers like that and I recommend it for those of you who haven’t taken the plunge yet - even for oily skin. I thought about taking one star off for the price point, but this is a sizeable tube and I only use a dab the size of a penny. Plus when you go down the ingredients list, it’s got ascorbic acid (vit C) and retinol so it’s gonna be good for preventing photo-aging and smoothing out fine lines, so you’re getting a good dose of something for pretty much every concern in this tube. This will definitely be a repurchase.
« Life Changing »
I have been using this product for 3 years now and it genuinely is the only product I will ever swear by. I had incredibly bad acne and tried everything. This finally worked for me. I used it along with a clarsonic cleanser and followed the 3 steps for the first year. Now my acne is under much better control and I only use the cleaner with a different moisturizer. I highly suggest you try this product!
