Ceramic Slip French Green Clay Cleanser

This used to be my holy grail cleanser until they changed the formula clearly for the benefit of the company’s bottom line and not the customer’s. If you didn’t use the original formula, you’d never realize you were missing out. The most notable change is removing the neroli which gave this cleanser the most sophisticated, spa like fragrance that made using this product feel like a trip to a spa at an upscale hotel. Now it smells like a generic soap which to loyalists of Sunday Riley is really disappointing. Also, the texture is watery compared to the original as if watered down and designed for a mild foaming experience which is the complete opposite point of the original product. The final insult is the packaging change which in my opinion is not an improvement. The original pimp allowed you to portion out just the right amount and made this product last. This new packaging is a squeeze bottle and considering the thinner consistency than the original just pours out. What that means is more wasted product and a faster trip back to buy another. Very clear, who benefits from that. All these changes make me feel like SR said ok, we have a great product, how can we make it cheaper in subtle ways the average customer would not notice. Removing the main luxury ingredient, changing the consistency and adding derivatives of rice as if that somehow is more appealing is a clear downgrade. I bet you fans of the original would sign a petition to bring back the original in a heartbeat. I would.

I never write reviews for products on here, but this one I feel strongly about. Selfishly I hope that with enough reviews like this they will bring back the original formula which was beyond amazing. This one just doesn’t do it; it doesn’t feel as luxurious, smell anywhere near as good, clean as well or leave your skin looking as amazing as the original formula did. Sunday Riley bring back the original and stop trying to fix what isn’t broken!!

My partner and I have been using the previous version of ceramic slip for years and have purchased 10+ bottles. I was nervous hearing about the formula change... especially because the ingredients of the new version doesn’t resemble the previous version. Got a sample at my local Sephora and was advised it needs more massaging than previous version, ok great. Cue to next day washing my face, consistency is fine, felt and smelled like a drug store cleanser. Here’s the fun part, when rinsed it left a wax like residue feeling covering my face. My pores felt suffocated, toner didn’t do anything, moisturizer and sunscreen slid around within hours. It was miserable. I felt like a waxy grease blob for an entire day. This new version is awful and not up to par with SR products and results. Such a shame.

Now that Sunday Riley has been caught red-handed putting up fake product reviews maybe they will read this clearly not-fake review of their horrible new cleanser which replaced a wonderful one. The old Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser was the best face cleanser I have ever used. I have purchased at least 10 bottles of it since it was first released. Not only was it a most effective cleanser (no pre-clean or toners needed) but it was a fabulous, calming, mood-altering aromatherapeutic with its lovely neroli fragrance. The new Ceramic Slip Cleanser is simply terrible. Not only is it a completely ineffective cleanser but it smells terrible (like chemicals or toilet cleansers). The old cleanser was like a mini-spa treatment, this replacement is like a cheap drug store product. Shame on you, Sunday Riley! Not only is your reputation likely to be permanently tarnished by jumping on the “fake news” wagon but your product line looks like it is going down the tubes, too.

The additional product DOES NOT compensate for the lackluster performance of this new imposter version! This is the product that originally made me fall in love with Sunday Riley and now it has me teetering on falling out of love with her products. I just feel that if she is willing to cut corners with her best cleanser than what is next? My loyalty is no longer. It’s disappointing. The old version did an incredible job of deep cleaning, removing make up, tightening pores and leaving skin refreshed. This one leaves me feeling like I need to wash again after using this with an effective cleanser to remove the film like feeling that this one left behind. Please reconsider bringing back the old formula, the one that actually performs as described.

I want to start by saying I LOVE Sunday Riley products, including the original version of this cleanser. That being said, I don’t love this new version and it breaks my heart. I’m not sure I would feel as strongly against it if I hadn’t tried and adored the original. The new version is creamier and foams slightly, which I don’t love for my oily, dehydrated skin. it was also difficult to rinse off and I felt as though it left a stiff film on my face. It also says it removes makeup, but I didn’t find it to be effective for that. The original was one of my favorite cleansers and I’m a bit heartbroken that it’s gone for good. This product was provided free for consideration, but all opinions are my own.

So i walked into Sephora just-a-browsin, and honestly, i wasn’t expecting to buy anything, but i remembered I needed a new facial cleaner, and decided to ask what was their best seller. one of my main facial concerns are my pores. i don’t like to see them. the associate led me to Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip and said,” You’ve got to try this.” Alright. I bought this and the mattifying toner. I got home, washed my face with it, toned and moisturized, and went to sleep. I woke up today, and YALL, i ain’t lying, my pores shrunk. It was enough where i could notice. My face feels so weightless and not clogged up. I’ll give it a week and come back and update my review, but so far chile, i’m here for it.

I gave this a try for two weeks and my acne never went away. It only brought them down a bit. The original would literally get rid of my acne in one day! I’m also heartbroken and sad that Sunday Riley changed the original formula. It was everything to me. I bragged about it so much and now I’m back to finding “the one” again. They should’ve just made a separate cleanser overall and kept the original. I didn’t mind paying 48 for something that changed my skin for the better...this is 35 for something I can buy at a drug store for 7$ and have that “clean” feel. It doesn’t even take off my make up... I might as well say. Bad call Sunday Riley!

Loved the original version. This one does nothing except make small bumps on my chin and forehead. They should’ve just made a version for dry/sensitive skin and kept the original for normal to oily! Looks like I’m back to searching for a decent cleanser.

Bring the Original Back!!!This is a terrible (and unnecessary) reformulation of a previously fabulous product! The original cleanser smelled amazing and luxurious, and worked beautifully. My pores were so clean and invisible! This new formula feels and smells like any cheapo product I could buy at the drugstore. It just doesn’t perform at the same level at all. It doesn’t even take off all my makeup, which consists of tinted moisturizer and powder! I gave it a week to make sure, but I ended up returning it.

What were you thinking Sunday Riley? Bring back the old formula that WORKED! I don’t know what is going on with the company, but I also purchased the “new” kit of High dose retinoid, good genes glycolic acid, CEO vitamin C oil. All of them are pretty basic. I will be disappointed if they ever change good genses All-In-One Lactic Acid. Don’t do it, Sunday Riley!

Why on earth did they reformulate this?!?! The OG ceramic slip was hands down the best cleanser on the market. The new version just isn’t the same. The smell is terrible, leaves my skin feeling a little dry, the original didn’t do that. So disappointing. Hopefully Sunday Riley wises up and brings the original back.

I loved the original. It was my holy grail cleanser. I used the new formula for just 2 weeks, and it ruined my skin. The reformulated cleanser was the only change to my skincare routine, and it caused horrible congestion, dryness, and breakouts. It’s taken months to clear up all the damage.

I want to start out this review stating that I haven’t tried the original version and this is my first experience with the product. That being said I do really like it. I have oily, dehydrated skin. I wear a full face of make up every day and while I do use a balm make up remover I really rely on my cleanser to take off that bits left behind (especially mascara). I also use a Clarisonic daily. This worked extremely well with my Clarisonic. It’s more of a watery, gel consistency that doesn’t have a scent to it unless it’s close up to your nose. Even when you’re washing your face you can’t really smell the clay scent. It easily cleansed my face and really got off the stubborn bits of make up left behind. I was extremely happy with its use with my Clarisonic. I did notice my face was a tiny, tiny bit dry afterwards but it wasn’t a tight, over stripped dry. It was a throughly cleansed dry which was easily fixed with my skincare routine. I felt like it did a good job cleaning my face without stripping it or causing it to break out. I had nothing but a pleasant experience with this cleanser. I did receive a sample of this cleanser complimentary for review but all my opinions are my own
