I think a lot of people use this cleanser incorrectly. It’s supposed to be used on dry skin, gently massaged (I would say at least a minute) and then washed off. It is not a foaming cleanser. Foam does not equal clean. Also, just because it’s a clean product doesn’t mean there isn’t any fragrance because guess what, fragrance naturally occurs in the wild. Mind blown right? Now, back to the product, since people like to rate something 1 Star for not working for them instead of giving an honest review. This is a great cleanser, Tata Harper is definitely doing some great things for skin. I never use an astringent after cleansing but for the purpose of testing if the product ACTUALLY cleanses the skin, I did. Nothing left behind! It definitely gives the luxurious spa-like feel. The primary scent IS lemongrass which is definitely NOT my favorite scent, I really truly dislike lemongrass. However, I pushed through because me face was looking clearer and my oily skin was less oily and more balanced. I can honestly say that I look forward to the smell now, it’s weirdly grown on me and I feel relaxed and refreshed after using it.Why only 4 out of 5, you ask? Because it is EXPENSIVE. Yes, I realize it’s a luxury. Yes, I know it’s because great quality ingredients take money. Yes, I know the care and research and time it took to create these formulas. I just think that it’s so disappointing that we want everyone to go back to using good products not filled with crap but people can’t afford to do so.Welp, there’s my two cents. If you can afford it, try it! Cleared my hormonal acne! If it’s too much of a stretch financially don’t break your bank, there are other great products out there too!

Many people are not using this cleanser right. First, you must remove your makeup prior to using this cleanser. This is a treatment cleanser. You cannot treat your skin if you have a layer of make up on. This is not to remove makeup. Second, you have to apply this cleanser to dry skin. You want to apply two to three pumps all over the skin and massage it in. You can want to circulate where you have the most congestion. Then you will add a little water to your hands and massage it into the skin. This is where the foaming sugars activate and pull things out to the surface. Then after massaging it in you will rinse off. Your skin is going to feel great and amazing. You will feel the difference immediately! It’s a juice detox for the skin that will pull out impurities, free radical damage, and help stimulate the skin! Literally use it right and experience the difference. The purple clay is magic

I have ridiculously sensitive skin. Even the gentlest cleansers such as purity, the fresh cleanser, first aid beauty and even oil based cleansers have made my skin feel stripped!This is one of the two cleansers I have found that does not do that. It feels so luxurious on my skin while still taking off all of my makeup and anything else on my face. It’s helped control minor hormonal acne and helped a little with my blackheads.Don’t love the price but I do love the results. I think it’s worth the money.

I love this cleanser. It has an oil consistency with the addition of clay so it doesn’t feel drying to my skin but really does feel clarifying. The scent is citrusy and fresh. I wouldn’t use this to remove makeup or around the eyes. I rub it on dry skin and massage then add water to emulsify and remove with a washcloth. Removing one star simply because this is quite a bit to spend on a cleanser. I’d like to see less expense put into the packaging to bring the price point down a bit.

Absolutely AMAZING ! I love the cooling effect an the smell your left with is so relaxing ! It’s a nightly must for me. I love that this isn’t overly harsh or full of chemicals. It’s helped to keep my cystic acne at bay. It doesn’t strip the skin which is great, so many gentle cleansers leave my skin dried out after only a week of use. I’ve seen some reviews stating the consistency but if you apply this product as instructed (DRY SKIN) then the texture works well and you don’t have to use a ton of product to create an even layer to leave on as a “minute mask“ I like to use a hot damp towel to stem my face first to open my pores, pat dry then apply this cleanser, let that sit and rinse with cool water. For me this is a must have in my nightly routine.10-10 for all aspects of this product.SmellTextureEffectivenessIngredientsEtc.I would recommend this to any and all skin types.

I’m in my 30s and still breakout from time to time. when I do, it just won’t go away and I end up keeping those red spots for weeks. This is the only product that would actually melt them away. It heals my skin and clears it up in a few days. It’s a bit expensive so I tried to find replacement but nothing else would be as magical as this guy. This my 5th bottle and I seriously cannot live without it. now I only use this when I breakout and only in the evening as a second cleanser and replace it by Dermalogica ultracalming cleanser when my skin in clear. In the AM I don’t need to wash my face anymore, only use a toner and follow with my normal skin care routine. I cannot recommend this one enough.

I’ve never come on here to actually write a review, so that should give you an idea about how much I love this cleanser. I recently did a full skincare revamp - getting rid of all products with bad ingredients that were damaging my skin more than helping it. One of the first things I did was swap out that awful charcoal face wash from Boscia for this. After a week, i’m seeing (and FEELING) a huge difference - my skin is soft and moisturized but not greasy. I’m getting fewer breakouts, and I’m noticing my pores are becoming less clogged. I recommend checking out Caroline Hirons blog, that’s what finally inspired this revamp for me. And I use Paula’s Choice to check the ingredients of products to make sure I’m getting something worthwhile.

« Fantastic cleanser »

I love this cleanser, I use it as a morning cleanse or second cleanse in the evening. It’s great for my combination skin and does not break me out. I have had less break outs since starting using this cleanser. It is an odd constancy, if you into foamy cleansers this is not for you. It’s close to gel but not really a gel, I like the smell but I can see how some people would be bothered by it. This is the best cleanser I have ever tried!

The user minisizedmel is right - first you cleanse to remove your makeup with the Nourishing Oil cleanser and then you use this Purifying cleanser. It’s better at night, as the morning is better for exfoliating cleansers. Tata told me personally to always apply cleansers on dry skin in circular motions to start the detox/cleansing process. It made a huge difference.

This is my holy grail morning cleanse/second cleanse thanks to the brilliant Caroline Hirons. I have acne-prone, combination skin and my skin is the clearest its been in two years. This cleanser has a super unique texture. I use it on dry skin and as you massage, it gets more and more slip to it. I then dampen my fingers and emulsify the cleanser, wiping it off with a warm washcloth. The smell is also DIVINE! Word of caution: steer clear of your eyes! This stuff burns.

« Irritating »

I’ve tried purifying cleanser, refreshing cleanser & resurfacing mask and all were a complete fail. All of Tata’s products have an overwhelming smell of old lady, God it made me nauseous. The amount of fragrance is extremely irritating to the skin. My skin reacted very badly due to the high amount of fragrance which is just no good especially for sensitive skin. Organic does not necessarily mean better. Fragrance is just unnecessary in skin care products.

Real talk- if you’re depressed (2020 has been a fun year am I right) get this cleanser. It gets me out of bed to wash my face and do my skincare. Otherwise, I lose all motivation and can’t be bothered. Skincare needs to work and be effective, but it also needs to be enjoyable and fun. This is that. I Absolutely love this cleanser. I look forward to washing my face when I am using this! I have oily skin that can be sensitive and I struggle with breakouts. This is a perfect cleanser for me. I always towel it off with a warm wash cloth to really get everything off, and because this cleanser is thick and has clay and essential oils, you definitely don’t want to skip that step.

An employee recommended this product for me as I was on the hunt for a good cleanser. (I have combination skin). So I got a sample and I’m so glad that I did. This is by far the best thing that has touched my face. First it’s not too harsh and smell is so amazing. I see a complete difference on how brighter my face has gotten and how much moisture it has now. The only thing that is annoying is that is too sticky, but other than that, it really is a great product. Of course I took advantage of the VIB sale and purchased it. I will definitely be restocking on this.

I also don’t understand the negative reviews. This cleanser is a gel, oil, and milky cleanser all in one. I don’t feel I need to double cleanse. I have extremely sensitive skin and was also concerned about reactivity. None whatsoever. It leaves ZERO trace of my makeup (don’t use on eyes, as noted on the box.) My pores are slowly starting to look cleaner with regular use. Does not make my skin feel tight, only refreshed.

I have sensitive, combination, oily skin, and this cleanser is amazing. I have been using for almost 2 months as a second cleanse at night after Koh Gen Doh spa cleansing water and my skin has become more smooth and less prone to breakouts. It has a citrus-type scent that I find pleasant and spa-like. The scent can cause my eyes to sting if it gets too close so I remove eye makeup with an eye makeup remover. I do not use this twice a day as recommended because I find it a tad drying. I need that drying (or purifying) at night because at the end of the day I am an oily mess, but it would be too much for my skin to use twice a day. I’ve really been enjoying this and other Tata Harper products I’ve been trying. I thought I was too sensitive for essential oils, but whatever ones she uses work for my skin. Thanks, Sephora, for picking up this line!
