Use it as a cleansing oil or balm. Do not wet your face or hands before putting on the product. Gradually add water to face after massaging. You can see the product turns to milk like liquid, then you can rinse off.

This is an amazing cleanser for sensitive skin!! Doesn’t strip, doesn’t dry out, gets the makeup off. I can’t rave enough about it. I’m so glad to see this available on Sephora. On The Ordinary’s site it says they have a larger size in the works, too.

Excellent at removing make up- but the price reflects the size. This is TINY.

« Great as a first step in double cleanse »

This makes a great first step in a k beauty double cleanse ot on it’s own. It removes makeup well without stripping or drying the skin. I like it better than using coconut oil because it doesnt leave the face oily. On heavy makeup days I follow with a mild gentle cleanser and my face has never felt softer.

this is such a nice texture. upon my first couple of uses, i’ve found i need a lot of product to get the job done but i may not have been using it correctly. this doesn’t create any foam/suds so be aware that it’s more a first-step makeup remover, kind of a pre-cleanse. i love it though and look forward to figuring out how to get the most out of it and use less product! i hope they release another cleanser that’s a second step foaming cleanser!

The product is amazing , I just wish it was carried in a larger size.

I’ve been using this cleanser for 3 months in combination with a few other products from this company. My skin has never looked and felt better since I started using their cleanser and other products. I was using a Philosophy brand cleanser but still found it drying for my sensitive skin. I had never tried an oil cleanser before but fell in love after a few uses! I have acne prone and sensitive skin. Adult acne is something I struggle with and this has certainly helped! I use this cleanser twice a day, along with their blemish serum in the morning and their anti aging serum called “buffet” in the evening. It’s done wonders for me!

This product works well as my first cleanse by melting makeup & sunscreen off of my face after a long day. My only criticism is that the bottle is like 75% air—not that much product actually in it.

This is my favorite, no-nonsense, cleanser. What do I mean by that? It’s an oil balm and that’s all it is. There are no added fragrances, vitamins, acids, plastic microbeads, or essential oils. Why is this important? Because if you have sensitive skin and plan to use serums, retinol, or other treatments, it’s best to work from a clean but not stripped-dry slate, as this will reduce bad reactions. Also, no stinging eyes when really working off that waterproof eye makeup. I do think the container is too small, but I’ve not found anything like this cleanser at Sephora or at drugstores.

This starts out as a gel and as you work it into your skin it turns into an oil. Once your makeup has been broken down, you rinse it all away with water and are left with a soft, cleansed complexion! Make sure to apply it with dry hands directly to your face, otherwise it will emulsify to quickly without breaking down the dirt and makeup.

« Favorite Cleanser Ever »

After using the entire 1.7 oz tube of this product, I have to say this is by far my favorite facial cleanser. I couldn’t believe how smooth my skin felt without it ending up feeling greasy. I’m 43, have combo skin with occasional breakouts. It didn’t cause me to break out and didn’t accentuate my lines. Will definitely be repurchasing in the large tube.

« Not Oily Enough »

Wanted to love this product because I love all the ordinary products but this was a disappointment. it doesnt warm up will and you really need to use a lot of it granted there isnt much in the bottle anyways..then when you get it all warm and slightly oily, you really need to use your fingertips and scrub your face to get the makeup off leaving your face raw and red. dont recommend this for dry skin users. Accutane users beware this isnt gentle. I went back to my clinique take the day off balm.

Honestly, reading all the bad reviews of this product it just seems like people weren’t using it correctly, because this is the easiest and best cleanser I’ve ever used! It heats up and becomes super easy to apply quickly, and I find my skin feels so smooth and clean afterwards, with absolutely no drying feeling! This has pretty much cleared up my hormonal chin and cheek acne in about 3 days, and I no longer suffer from any texture (especially on and around my nose) and definitely less redness. It doesn’t last as long as other cleansers, but it’s so cheap that you end up saving money anyways by avoiding all those pricey high-end ones that only do the job half as well. Will definitely be adding this as a staple in my daily routine!

I love everything about the ordinary, their products are the only ones in my skin care routine - with that being said I feel like this product doesn’t deliver. As others have stated this is ok when used as a step in a double cleanse routine, but I don’t feel this does enough on its own. (On days I wear makeup I double cleanse anyway however) It wasn’t able to get all my mascara off on its own, and I feel I need to use a large amount of product to see results, and the bottle is pretty small. There’s just something missing. It feels nice on the skin otherwise, I don’t find it to be drying or cause irritations, but I’m leaning more towards not repurchasing this. Unless maybe they came out with a bigger size.

Squalane is an oil y’all, this is meant to be a first cleanse and to be followed up with another cleanser. My super sensitive eyes don’t have any problem with it and it takes my makeup off beautifully. I wish the larger size was more accessible because this is my favorite cleanser of all time, gentle yet effective and a pleasure to use. Melts from a cream to an oil when warmed up on your skin.
